After I switched to the Helix build, I realize that the syntax highlighting for Kotlin was not working, after days of trying to fix the issue. I deleted and recloned the Helix project and did the same for the Kotlin lsp. I build both of them from scratch, changed the Kotlin LSP ref from language.toml to the latest commit, and somehow it worked like a charm.
